Electrostatic solution for three-dimensional, arbitrarily-shaped conducting bodies using FE/MEI

In this paper, the open-region electrostatic conducting body problem is solved with the finite element (FE) method augmented with the measured equation of invariance (MEI) mesh-truncation technique to result in a relatively small, sparse system matrix. The applicability of the FE/MEI technique to three-dimensional bodies is demonstrated. Further, it is concluded that this method provides significant savings in terms of computer storage and execution times as compared to the conventional MoM solution.
