Analysis of correlation between shandong's transport and GDP

To estimate the correlation of transport to Shandong's regional economy, this paper makes some quantitative analysis. It carries on regressive analyses of Shandong's transport (including freight volume and equivalent of passenger to freight) to its GDP using the logistic model. It finds that there is a positive correlation of Shandong's transport to its regional economy. Through the marginal analysis of transport to the regional economy, it shows that Shandong's marginal contribution of transport to GDP has started to go down since year 2008 concluding that the role of expanding transport scale to promote the economy growth has decreased. Analysis of the elasticity of transport to GDP indicates that it can not greatly play the role of transport to GDP increment purely dependence on scale expansion. It needs to enhance transportation management and implement intensive-oriented development strategy. Of special note, although Shandong's third industry ratio in GDP is lower than that of the average in the country, to prosper Shandong's third industry, it would rather exploit contemporary service industry such as logistics, finance, etc. than traditional transport.
