A practical maximum power point tracker for the photovoltaic system

In order to improve the transfer efficiency of the solar array, this paper introduces a practical Maximum Power Point tracker and analyzes it in details. The methodology includes a loss-free resistor (LFR) realizing by a buck-boost converter. An improved incremental conductance tracking (ICT) algorithm with variable searching steps is also presented. In this case, the maximum power is tracked and transferred to the load, regardless of its characteristics. From the analysis we can conclude that both the circuit and the control method are simple and easy to achieve in practice. The usefulness and validity of the proposed tracker are verified by the simulation. Compared to conventional tracker, it behaves considerable high tracking performance.
