The finite difference time domain (FDTD) technique is a very powerful tool for solving electromagnetic field and coupling problems. This makes it a very powerful tool for EMC design and analysis. Due to the nature of FDTD, care is needed in creating models that provide the required accuracy over the full frequency range of interest. The paper examines some options available that can help to make practical FDTD models for EMC analysis.
