A New type of permanent magnet synchronous motors for parallel hybrid electric vehicle

Halbach motor is a novel permanent magnet (PM) motor. One-sided and sinusoidal field is produced by the special distribution of permanent magnets. The field can increase air-gap flux and decrease the rotor yoke flux, which can improve power density, efficiency and reduce volume and pulsating torque of motor. It accords with hybrid electric vehicle system's need: high efficiency, high power density, low pulsating torque. Full-digital drive system of hybrid electric vehicle based on DSP2407A is designed according to Halbach motor's distinguishing feature. Experiment results prove Halbach motor has much more advantages in the system than traditional permanent magnetic motor.
