Investigation of 1-D meta-structured leaky wave antennas using transmission line theory considering radiation effects

Based on the transmission line theory considering radiation effects, we have examined the MLWA in terms of scanning capability and reflection coefficients near the design frequency of 2GHz. The reflection coefficient is about −15dB when φω = 0 (broadside) and φω = k0d (backfire). It is less than –40dB when φ? = -k0d (endfire). The theoretical scanning angle when N=30 is estimated to be from –63° to 60°. We have also provided some convenient closed-form equations for circuit parameters to facilitate MLWA designs.
