Engineering challenges in the design of the International Linear Collider

The International Linear Collider (ILC) is a proposed electron-positron collider with a center-of-mass energy of 500 GeV. It will support precision measurements of the Higgs boson and related phenomena and is thereby complementary to the recently completed Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. The ILC presents numerous engineering challenges due to its scale, performance requirements, cost, and collaborative nature. It is expected that these challenges will be met over the next few years prior to approval of construction of the ILC.
