Control of a Parallel Myoelectric Elbow Using Higher Order Statistics

This work presents one method to classify myoelectric signal employing higher order statistics. The results letus to obtain control commands of one parallel mechanism for a prosthetic transhumeral elbow. Themyoelectric signals are obtained from the user's muscles in four channels. The results are commands of movements for the prosthesis in order to emulate a biological elbow. In this case, the higher order statistics is the best method because is easy to implement and have fast processing and can be programmed using a DSP microcontroller.
