New method of measuring non-linear resonant objects at microwaves

In swept-frequency measurements of reflectivity of high-Q resonant objects, the characteristics obtained are not direct because of test link influence. Hence the physical processes causing effects in nonlinear resonant objects are hard to identify in many cases. We describe a compensation method of investigating such objects. The method permits us to obtain characteristics that are clear for interpretation since the signal received is proportional to resonance amplitude. Besides, the method permits a simple measurement of the complex amplitude and the energy storage in the resonance mode field. For the illustration of the method efficiency, we present experimental data at X-band for the superconductive quantum interferometer coupled with rutile (TiO/sub 2/) resonator placed in liquid helium dewar.
