Production of magnetic nanocomposite by partial reduction of barium hexaferrite via mechanical ball milling

Barium hexaferrite is a hard magnetic ceramic with superior magnetic properties and also low cost of production. Magnetic nanocomposites are a new grade of magnetic materials which exchange coupling may occur between their constituent phases due to their small particle sizes. In this work, barium hexaferrite nanocomposites were produced by partial reduction during ball milling with carbon and subsequent heat treating. Mechano-chemical process of barium hexaferrite powder with carbon can result in magnetic nanocomposites of this material. The effect of milling parameters on crystallite size and magnetic phases were investigated by XRD. Magnetic properties were measured using VSM.
