A decentralized immune based automatic generation control design in compliance with NERC's standards

In this paper, a decentralized automatic generation control design based on an artificial immune system algorithm is proposed. Using the concept of immune cell-pathogen interactions the power system is assimilated to a human body which strives to fight and eliminate damages and anomalies. The immune based controller takes smart actions that (1) assure compliance with NERC's control performance standards, CPS1 and CPS2, and (2) also reduces wear and tear of generating units' equipment. A two-area power system is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of this novel approach.
