Chirped grating for efficient coupling from a silicon waveguide to a vertical optical fiber

We propose and show that a linearly chirped waveguide grating can reduce reflection and increase the coupling efficiency from ~25% to ~42% for coupling light from a submicron-sized silicon waveguide to a vertical optical fiber.
