Tunability of a double-cavity Fabry-Pérot system based on 1D Photonic Crystals

In this work we present a theoretical study of a tunable double-cavity Fabry-Perot multilayer structure composed of porous silicon mirrors and liquid crystal cavities. We base our study on the anisotropic transfer matrix method. The structure possesses two resonant frequencies within the stop band with tunable wavelengths and transmission properties. Tuning is achieved by allowing different orientations of the liquid crystal optical axes within the cavities, while keeping the optical axes parallel to the layers.
