Hughes HF Adaptive Radio

The Adaptive High Frequency (HF) Receiver/Transmitter designed by Hughes Aircraft Company's Ground Systems Group is an enhanced capability Manpack radio that will provide improved communications despite the HF Receiver/Transmitter propagation characteristics. The ability to "adapt" to the changing HF environment is done by providing flexible control of an HF radio communication net. The system is partitioned into two distinct subsystem elements: (1) The Net Control Unit (NCU) and (2) The User Station (Us). The Us is a stand alone device. By a combination of both the Us and an NCU, A Net Control Station (NCS) is produced.
