Progressive UPS-technology

The technology of modern power electronics and with it static uninterruptible power supply - UPS, is now about 20 years old. Many problems were solved, for example good reliability and redundant and parallel systems became standard. But in the past UPS'es were expensive, bulky and noisy devices, they normally required special rooms for the units and batteries. The customers often had to make a critical evaluation if it was useful to install a UPS-system. Now this situation has changed based on 20 years of know-how and attractive new components became the key to a significant improvement in modern UPS. This paper tries to explain some examples of progressive UPS-technology and shows how easy it is to install and use modern UPS equipment.
