Modelling and control of two dimensional Poiseuille flow

The problem of stabilization of plane Poiseuille flow is considered using LQG control design. The infinite dimensional nature of the problem is explored. Furthermore, the effects of unmodelled dynamics on LQG design are described. Distributed actuation or sensing is proposed to overcome the problems caused by unmodelled dynamics. Finally, reduced order LQG controllers are designed that stabilize the system to a prescribed degree.
