Spectrally efficient radar systems in the L and S bands

In the L and S bands radar is extensively used in the UK for aeronautical, maritime and weather surveillance on both fixed and mobile platforms. In recent times, however, there has been a desire within the communications industry to access parts of the radar L and S bands. This tendency will certainly continue in the future under pressure from the (civil) communication market. This paper outlines the reseach carried out and the conclusions of a study into spectrally efficient radar technology funded by the UK communications regulator Ofcom.
