Blind identification of co-channel systems

One of the major impediments of reliable communication in systems employing frequency reusage is co-channel interference. In many cases, neither a training signal nor a priori measurements of the channel transfer functions are available. Hence, the receiver has to start up blindly. In this paper, we propose a new method for the blind identification of co-channel systems using higher-order statistics. Magnitude responses are estimated using the power spectrum of the received signal together with a slice of the bispectrum or the trispectrum. Then, phase responses are estimated using a slice of bispectrum or trispectrum only. Another approach based on cyclostationarity and different baud rates is also described.<>
