Recent test results on the feasibility of a high coulombic thyratron

The authors briefly discuss the requirements for HV switches used in capacitor bank discharges. The possible use of thyratrons for this purpose is discussed. It is pointed out that thyratrons have traditionally had is their inability to handle very long pulse widths at high peak currents. The authors then discuss the feasibility of such a high coulombic efficiency thyratron. The authors describe the test equipment and device development.<>
