A method of monitoring transmission quality of streaming media

A method is introduced in this paper for monitoring the transmission quality of streaming media. The transmission quality of streaming media is characterized by some parameters, such as transmission bandwidth, jitter and packet loss rate, etc. A model is given to illustrate how to obtain these parameters. Then, a monitoring system based on this model is implemented on the Windows XP SP2 platform. Some monitoring tests are performed to study how the parameters are reflected the transmission quality of the streaming media.
