Structure Dependence of Nanoconductor Current in a Tight-Binding Microcanonical Model

The structure dependence of current flow in electrode-conductor-electrode systems is studied within the tight- binding microcanonical approach of Bushong, Sai and Di Ventra. The time-dependent conductor current is calculated for structures with various conductor lengths and electrode configurations, and it is shown that the establishment of a quasi-steady- state current hinges on specific details of the structure geometry.
