Experimental determination of bands in solid core photonic bandgap fibres using acoustic gratings

Using acoustic gratings, we experimentally determine the band structure of an all-solid photonic bandgap fibre and compare it to simulations. We show that the band structure is very sensitive to minute details of the structure.
