Calculattng the induced currents in induction machines using Schwarz-Christoffel mapping

A new method for simulating induction machine rotor currents is presented that combines Schwarz-Christoffel mapping theory with electromagnetic field reconstruction techniques. Detailed static field solutions are calculated at several rotor positions over a pole pitch of motion, and these solutions are superposed in a finite difference time- domain simulation to calculate the steady-state rotor currents. Using the proposed method, one can simulate numerous machine geometries and stator excitations, and winding and slot harmonics as well as torque ripple can easily examined.
