Simulation and design of SMA muscle

For a certain TiNi shape memory alloy fabricated by the Institute of Metals of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the sharp memory effect experiments are conducted and the shape memory effect under different temperatures are discussed in detail. Then, a mathematic model of stress-strain of SMA wires is proposed and corresponding model parameters are determined. A new SMA muscle is brought forward and its design formula and control strategy are explained. The construct of the muscle is designed and the variance of effectiveness with the main parameters of the devices is calculated in detail. In addition, reasonable values for the parameters of SMA muscle are given. We also present a simulation scheme for deflection of the SMA muscle. Based on this method, a simulation was designed and the result is satisfied with the experiment.
