Corona Charging Method for Controlled Production of Film Electrets

A screen-controlled corona charging method has been developed for use in the production of film electrets. The charge controller uses feedback and feedforward charge sensor information to attain a required film voltage, independent of the initial film voltage. Compared to a roller charging method, this method gives a more uniform surface potential and also improves the charge storage characteristics, as tests with the thermally stimulated discharge method have shown.
