Active UWB Antenna with Tuneable Band-Notched Behaviour

An UWB planar monopole antenna with a tuneable band-notched response is proposed in the present paper. Tuning of the rejected frequency is realized by loading an embedded resonant slot with a varactor device. Simulations and measurements are presented for the proposed antenna, both in frequency and time domain, in order to show the suitability of the proposed design for UWB systems. The results provided demonstrate the possibility of using active devices in combination with UWB antennas in order to increase its functionality.
