Interactive applications for digital TV using internet legacy - a successful case study

This paper describes the development of an interactive application for Digital TV. The architectural decisions, drawbacks, solutions, advantages and disadvantages of Interactive Digital TV development are discussed. The application, an e-mail client and its server, are presented and the main considerations about its development are shown, especially a protocol developed for communication between Internet systems and Digital TV systems.
