On the investigation of transactional and interoperability issues between IPv4 and IPv6

The process of transitioning from IPv4 network to new version of Internet Protocol IPv6 is currently being extensively studied with a goal to achieve high level compatibility and clear procedure for easy and autonomous deployment of IPv6. IPv6 offers variety of enhancements including increased addressing capacity and capabilities, QoS control, mobility, built in IPSEC security and improved routing efficiency, which are seen as potential improvements to IPv4 and serve as main drivers for adopting it. This paper discusses prominent constraints in migration and provides a comparison between the protocols. The paper aims to critique diverse techniques, mechanisms and provide proposals for movement towards IPv6 with a consideration to parameters such as high level compatibility, smooth transitioning and superior interoperation between IPv4 and IPv6 by removing the constraints. In addition, investigation has been carried to find out the feasibility of these diverse techniques in different real life situations.
