Dual 500mA High-Side Power Distribution Switch for Portable USB Applications

Dual 500mA high-side intelligent power distribution switch with overcurrent and overtemperature circuit protection, 100mΩ ON resistance, 86μA quiescent current and soft start is proposed in this paper. The switch is dedicated to use in portable USB devices. Feasibility of this approach was investigated for a wide temperature range and process variations using Monte-Carlo analysis. The power switch was designed in a standard 0.35μm CMOS technology and will be physically implemented in the same process by AMS.
