Cement Plants and Programmable Controllers---A Systems Approach

Traditional uses of programmable controllers in cement plants are reviewed and expanded into the capabilities of today's state-of-the-art programmable controllers. A systems approach of centralized control, distributed process and machine interface, and intelligent peripherals is examined, detailing each area from simple motor control to process control. A model plant application is used to enhance the discussion further and to highlight the abilities of today's modern, more powerful, programmable controllers in cement plant control. Process control applications are included as well as discrete sequential control applications.
