Towards virtual reality of cutting: a feasibility study

Finite element models using an interactive moving node template have been developed with cutting of the virtual object controlled by an instrumented cutting tool held in the user's hand. Preliminary results with 2-D models have demonstrated the feasibility of developing interactive surgical simulation of cutting for the VR environment.
