P1M-1 Optimal Design of a 1-3 Piezocomposite Tonpilz Transducer by Means of the Finite Element Method

We have developed a new optimal design scheme that can determine the optimal geometry of a transducer to achieve the highest target performance under given constraints. The new design scheme is illustrated through the design of an underwater Tonpilz transducer made of 1-3 piezocomposite materials. In comparison with conventional analytic and finite element methods, the new design method can determine the optimal geometry with great efficiency and rapidity.
