Physiological responses to hypoglycaemia in diabetes

To extract hidden information both from the real-time skin transient pulse blood (STPB), detected as infrared absorption, and from response waveform as a whole of transient signal of the skin sympathetic sudomotor activity (TSSA), detected as skin electrical impedance, it is possible to distinguish between the sympathetic and parasympathetic cardiac diabetic impairment and to develop a sensitive technique and method of monitoring for the onset of hypoglycaemia. We have designed and built a high sensitivity new PC-based device with integral analog/digital (A/D), 12 bits, convertor, program written in Turbo Pascal programming language and compiled into an executable form, which has the potential to record and analyze the signal in real-time.<>
