Self-Management Considerations in Designing a Pervasive Multimodal Multimedia Computing System

The ever-growing complexity of information system demands that the system or its components to be built are self-managing. Self-management connotes that a computing system or its components are able to self-govern with no or very little interventions from the user. In effect, self-management means that it is capable of self-configuration, self-optimization, self-protection, and self-healing. The system being considered in this paper is one which detects the user's context (and if applicable, the user disability as well) and decides the media and modalities that are appropriate for such a context.
