Noise Figure and Associated Conversion Gain of a Microwave MESFET Gate Mixer

The noise figure of a microwave MESFET mixer has been calculated for the first time. This paper presents the theoretical and experimental results of the noise figure and conversion gain of a microwave MESFET mixer. The effects of the RF circuit at the mixer's output side and the IF circuit at its input side upon its noise and gain performance are also presented.
