SCS: A Speech Check-in System

This paper presents a speech check-in system (SCS), which utilizes the customers' speech as the fundamental characteristic to identify the customers. The main advantage of the system is its high security, naturalness, cheap hardware, and convenient for the management of work time. The system performance evaluation has been carried in an office for 13 months, including 38 Chinese students. The obtained results confirm the effectiveness of the system, while needs improvement. The intra-speaker variability caused by the time interval is estimated by the experiments using KL distance. The relationship between the intra-speaker variability and the time interval is discussed in the last. The experiment result shows that the model must be updated every five months if we want to keep the system performance
