With an Intense Bismuth ION Beam Toward Accumulation of a Weighable Mass ofAtoms

An experiment for the direct measurement of the atomic mass unit was proposed (Glaser, 1991). To obtain a weighable mass a dedicated set-up for the low energy beam transport (LEBT) of heavy ions is needed.
