A New Quasi-Lumped Resonant Cell Concept in Modern RF and Microwave Components

The quasi-lumped resonant cell concept provides a new paradigm for modern RF front-end component designs where simple, compactness, low cost and high performance are critical. This paper reviews some of the recent works in this area which has been pursued by the author's research group at HKCityU. With a special pattern etched on the transmission line, the devised resonant structures feature very simple, yet compact 1-D designs that offer very broad stop-band, and moderate slow-wave characteristics. Numerous passive and active RF/microwave components are demonstrated to show the uniqueness of this idea.
