Full-Wave Electromagnetic Design and Analysis of Broadband CRLH Couplers

The design procedure and the numerical analysis of a coupler consisting of two coupled artificial CRLH transmission lines, is presented. For the CRLH cell, a PI structure is used in order to increase the operating frequency, compare to the value obtained by using a T structure, as a results of the smaller value for the series capacitance, then a higher resonant frequency may be obtained. The influence of the CRLH cells number and the influence of the distance between the two coupled CRLH artificial transmission lines are also analyzed.
