Extract of polluted area in industrial complex by MOS-1(MESSR) image data

It is shown that the introduction of a novel index of CCT (computer compatible tape) counts of MOS-1(MESSR) [MOS-1=Marine Observation Satellite-1] data for supervised classification worked more effectively in extracting conjectured polluted areas in industrial complexes. The new index Isv was defined as the combined band ratio of Is to Iv, where Is and Iv are the ratio of band 1 to band 4 and the ratio of band 3 to band 2, respectively. It was further manifested that the normalized new scattering vegetation index Nsv was little influenced in value by linear enhancement of the CCT counts. The usefulness of the new normalized scattering vegetation index increased when the supervised classification method was used.<>
