Historical review of UK MV (11-33 kV) cable designs

The UK market for MV cables can be generally separated into two, the industrial sector and the electric utility sector. In reviewing the MV designs utilised by each area, it is clear that the applications and requirements of these two market sectors differ considerably and result in major differences in cables supplied historically, particularly as new developments have appeared. The paper reviews in the main those developments in the electric utilities market.<>
