Dissipative nonlinear systems: basic properties and stability analysis

The recognition of energy-related concepts such as passivity, dissipation and energy storage in abstract systems can lead to significant progress in the study of dynamic properties and stabilization. The key result in the development of such a theory for linear dynamics is the Kalman-Yakubovich lemma. A theory that elevates this result to nonlinear systems and provides a framework for general stability theory of interconnected systems is reviewed.<>
