Design and verification of ground integrity for sensitive electronics process application

It is noted that the presence of electrical noise in the wiring systems of both new and existing process facilities has become so significant a disturber of sensitive electronics loads that new wiring techniques must be used in order to protect digital signal systems. Most especially the common-mode aspect of noise-what is known by instrumentation engineers as noise caused by ground loops-must be the center of the effort for ground integrity. The authors describe the causes of electrical noise and suggest some of the techniques and applications necessary to eliminate the effects of common-mode noise on sensitive electronic equipment. They discuss the recommended practices for the application of sensitive equipment and address methods of verifying ground integrity.<>
