PV-powered water pumping as a utility service: a utility-customer-industry demonstration

PV-powered water pumping for livestock watering provides an opportunity for electric utilities to provide cost-effective photovoltaic (PV) powered electric service to customer-owned load. This project has involved the funding and installation of PV-powered pumping systems for selected utilities. The primary objectives of this effort have been to: (1) support the installation of utility-owned, PV-powered water pumping systems; (2) describe opportunities, requirements, and limitations for utility PV services; and (3) document direct utility experience with PV-powered water pumping systems.<>
