Current RDDP activities in oceanography

The Radar Data Development Program (RDDP) was established by the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS) to support the development within Canada of the operational use of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data in preparation for the launch of Radarsat in 1995. As part of the RDDP program, the Oceans Application group has the mandate to assess the capabilities of SAR as an operational and research tool for oceanography. Various demonstration projects have been undertaken in cooperation with outside agencies and industry to promote specific applications of SAR. This paper describes the work supported by the RDDP Oceans Application group.<>
