Inverse problem methodology in an induction heating system

An approach to the inverse problem in an induction heating process is presented. It consists in determining an optimal induction current from a given desired temperature distribution. The modelling of the coupled electromagnetic and thermal system is established by the finite elements method. A direct relation between variation of the induction current and variation of the temperature distribution is set up in terms of identification, and based on it, an optimal control is realized to attain and maintain the desired temperature distribution. Some simulations have been respectively achieved in the three and two dimensional modelling cases. The comparison in these two cases is also given.<>
