High dielectric constant material development

Novel dielectric films were produced via homogeneous incorporation of small particles of high dielectric constant ceramics, such as lead zirconium titanate (PZT), into cyanoresin films. The goal was to generate high dielectric constant composites. Induction of crystallinity was expected to further increase the voltage breakdown strengths. However, upon detailed testing, it appeared that the composites, dielectric constants, dielectric losses, and DC breakdown strengths do not merit further optimization of physical and electrical properties. A future alternative approach will be molecular modeling to guide the synthesis of semicrystalline, film-forming polymers with polarizable groups in their backbones.<>
