An all too familiar circumstance where nowadays false alarms have quelled the impetus of the general public to act positively to the sound of active car alarms. Indeed greater awareness of noise pollution means that the humble car alarm is now viewed by many to be a bane of current society. The author describes how advancements in communications electronics now allows for commercially viable paging technology to be applied to the automotive security mass market. A low cost transmitter unit fitted within the vehicle communicates with a remote pager receiver to give instantaneous indications of possible intrusions.<>
