Voltage compensation under instantaneous power failure

The authors discuss the principle and characteristics of the instantaneous voltage drop compensation, which protects against damage from instantaneous voltage drop in systems such as a computer, a variable speed drive, a high-voltage discharge lamp, and a magnet switch, when instantaneous voltage drop occurs, the control voltage that is the same as the normal utility voltage. The instantaneous voltage drop compensator has a condenser bank as the energy storage component, so the system can be made small and lightweight compared with uninterruptible power supplies.A 1 phi 100 V 3 kVA instantaneous voltage drop compensator has been designed, and the performance has been verified experimentally.<>
