3-D finite element analysis for molten metal shapes in an electromagnetic melting system

A novel 3-D finite-element method (FEM) has been developed for determining the 3-D shape of the molten metal in an electromagnetic melting system. The advantage of this method is that the shape, which is produced by electromagnetic forces, can be obtained directly. The validity of the method is confirmed by experiments on a high-frequency induction heater. The method is used to obtain the molten metal shape in a cold crucible.<>
